170E Controller
  • Enhanced reliability, service and safety features. Capable of controlling simple or complex traffic requirements.
  • 4 Communication Ports with individually adjustable Baud Rates
  • Extensive use of HC Logic for increased noise immunity
  • Accepts 2 internal dual FSK or Dial-up Modems

Description
The Model 170E is designed to meet and exceed CALTRANS 170E Specification. The 170E meets the Southern California Inter-Agency Group’s Specification as agreed on in 1993.

This full-featured design incorporates all the functionality of other Model 170’s, including software compatibility, plus features designed to enhance reliability and serviceability. It is designed for on-site utilization in hostile environments found at the local intersection. A front-panel LED indicates normal operation of the Watch Dog Timer.

Based on the MC6802 microprocessor, the 170E accepts 32K of EPROM and 32K of RAM on its CPU board. This facilitates operation without a Program Module. Communication Ports (ACIAs) provide bidirectional communication. Baud rates are individually adjustable from 300 to 19,200 Baud.

Description
The Model 210A Conflict Monitor is designed around the 68HC11 microprocessor, implemented for its high reliability with internal Watchdog circuitry to keep itself in check.

The Conflict Monitor is designed to monitor conflicting green, walk and yellow traffic indications, and place the intersection in a flashing condition in the event of a conflict. Conflicts are typically caused by malfunctioning signal equipment. Visual indications are provided by light-emitting diodes, which remain on even though the conflicting inputs are removed.

In addition to monitoring conflicting signal indications, the Model 210A also monitors the cabinet 24 Vdc supply and the Controller Watchdog output. If the cabinet power supply drops below the preset threshold level of 18 Vdc, the monitor will place the intersection in a flashing condition and turn off the “Control Power” indicator.

.

The Watchdog Timer Circuit monitors the controller by requiring the controller to provide pulses at a rate of 1 per second. If pulses are not received or are spaced at intervals greater then 1 per second, the monitor will place the intersection in a flashing condition, and turn on
the “Watchdog” indicator.

Safety features incorporated into the Model 210A Conflict Monitor will place the intersection in a flashing condition if the program card is removed, there is a loss of dc supply voltage, or the front panel fuse is blown.
